Popsicle Penguins Paper Bag Album

Just wanted to share one of my swap projects for Paper Crafting Divas.  We were to make a paper bag album with animals.  I decided to use my stash of this cute summer line from Imaginesce that I had been hoarding :)  I had papers, rub- ons and chip board stickers.  I added some flowers and glittery flourishes....and LOTS of fibers on the binding.  I also used some acetate letters for the pull tabs on the tags so the word "fun" is spelled out on the edge of the album.  Cute, don't you think?

Hope you are having a WONDERFUL day!

Spring Fling Layout

So, I LOVE  to do blingy, glittery, girly layouts...and do them for all my friends daughters since I have a boy.  I have not had the opportunity to do one in awhile...no one going to formals.  I was excited to get to do one for Lauren.

I have known Lauren since she was about 18 months old....her mother and I are very good friends.  It is hard to believe that the little curly head in the pink bikini is old enough to be going to her first formal!

Here is my completely blinged out layout for her first formal:

I used the following (all from Michael's):

teal ribbon
Jolee's boutique satin flowers
Martha Stewart rhinestone stickers
Jolee's Bling dimensional stickers
AC Thickers in Silver Glitter
Scrappy Cat Glitter Glue in blue rainbow
AC Silver Glitter Card stock
TPC Aqua Mulberry
Recollections Rhinestone corners and individual rhinestones

There is a third page to this layout, a special page that I will share later...after Teri and her daughter have seen it.

Thanks for looking!  Happy Crafting!

ATC: Wild Thing!

This month's ATC Swap theme on Paper Crafting Divas was:  Wild Things...however that inspires you.  So....I instantly thought of the song, "wild thing, you make my heart sing..."  Here is what I came up with...

I used some scraps of zebra print for the background.  I then added a border of black fibers.  I freehand cut a heart out of super glittery paper and added a rhinestone studded music note to it.  After adding the heart to the card, I added a few more music notes all around.

Hope you are enjoying your Memorial Day weekend.  Remember to take a minute to reflect on the true intention of the holiday.  Enjoy!

Summer Fun Card

Just a quick post to share my PCD Swap card....

The theme was Animals on Parade, so you know I am going to do a penguin if I can.

I used dies I purchased from Archivers to cut the penguin and his swim accessories.  I just used my scrap bin for all the papers.  The background is some more paper scraps, shimmery Reminisce scraps.  And the base card is from a pack of pre-cut cards with envelopes I found at Target in their Dollar Spot.

So, it is the start of Memorial Day weekend...I am hoping to craft a little, but DS is in a baseball tournament, so....we will just have to see.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Thanks for looking!

Lilliana Card

This month's challenge at Simply Betty Stamps included this beautiful fairy image and to use the colors:  orange, yellow, black and white.  First I have to say, I LOVED this image...and I glittered the heck out of it, so....what more could I ask for???

Here's the details:

Image:  Lilliana by Simply Betty Stamps; colored with pencils.  I colored two images, then removed the wings from one to layer over the bottom image for dimension.  I used Stickles on the wings and antennae in orange, yellow, black, and diamond.  I also added Crystal Effects to the eyes.

Sentiment:  printed on computer

Papers:  all from my scrap basket

Extras:  Prima green roses, black twill ribbon, frilly die cuts from a swap, black ink and rhinestone.

Thanks for looking!  Happy crafting!

ATC: Going Green

Paper Crafting Divas ATC swap theme for April was "Going Green".  You had to use recyclable pieces.  This is actually my second card...I was not happy with the first and decided to give it more thought.  I remembered this box of broken costume jewelry I had...so here is what I came up with:

I used old jewelry, flowers and jewels pulled from another project, scrap card stock for the background, and a cereal box for the base.  I glued everything down and then added glitter paint over the black card stock.

This was a fun one, once my brain went outside the box!

Thanks for looking.

My Monthly Picks

Ok, yes, I know I said I would start doing my picks on the 1st of the month, but...well...the 1st is just too crazy.  So, we are going for the 15th...which isn't much less crazy, but...it will work.  So, here they are, my Monthly Picks for May:
1)  We R Memory Keeps Envelope Punch Board - I have been seeing and hearing about this product on Pinterest, blogs, etc.  and I have decided that I NEED it.  So, I have made it my treat when I get my scrapbook room all cleaned up and organized...hopefully, I will have it by the end of summer!

2) Paper Storage - I have been trying to figure out the best way to store my papers int he space I have.  I have tried a couple of different things, but not in love with any of them.  Came across this idea on Pinterest and I love it...and, better yet, I have some of those wire grids that I am not using.  So, weekend project I think!

3)  Chip It - I love this tool!  Yes, it is really for finding paint colors, but it works great for creating layout color palettes as well.

4)  Crayon Box Memory Album - adorable!  I love this idea...what a fun gift for graduation.  I also think it would be a great way to use up those Christmas card pictures you get every year, and if you are like me, you can't throw away.

5)  Punch Art Bra - cute!  I am thinking it could also be a bathing suit top, not to figure out how to punch bottoms.

Whew!  OK, now that I have shared those...how was your Mothers' Day?  Did you do anything special?  We did yard work...we meaning DS, DH, and me.  I know, not very relaxing, but it was I wanted.  Now, the yard is all pretty and ready for some entertaining!  We mowed, mulched, weeded, planted, decorated, and fixed our waterfall.  It was a busy, but productive day.  Then we did dinner (take out from Outback), presents (see picture...remember, I was doing yard work all day & yes, it is a Coach purse) and dessert (cheesecake from Jarek).  All in all it was a lovely day.

Hope you are having a wonderful week!

I really liked the simplicity of the sketch from our challenge on  Paper Crafting Divas and knew it would be perfect for my Mothers Day cards.
Here is the sketch:

And here are the two cards I created, one for my mother and one for my MIL.
Here's the details:
Sentiment:  found online, typed and printed onto white card stock

Extras:  silk flowers, rhinestones, stickles, and ink

I REALLY like how they both came out...the yellow roses are for my mother - her favorite and the pink is for my MIL.

Chef Ariel Card

I decided to join in the challenge at Simply Challenged Challenges, the challenge was to use embossing folders.
This is what I came up with...

Here's the details:

Image:  Chef Ariel from Simply Betty Stamps; I colored with pencils and added Stickles to the cake, Crystal Effects to her glasses, and a flower sticker to her chefs' hat.

Papers:  purple cards stock and  Daisy D's scraps from my scrap basket; I inked all edges and embossed pieces with Chestnut Roan Ink and lavender metallic inks.

Embellishments:  sheer lavender ribbon and glitter flower stickers

Extras:  I used several emboss folders...all circles are embossed as well and the one piece of purple in the background.  I added the ink to show off the embossing.  I also used pop dots on the image and several of the circles to create depth.

Going Green Cards for Swap

Just a quick share of the cards I made for the recent swap on Paper Crafting Divas.  The theme was a color combo; black, white and green.  I decided to make a feminine and masculine card.

Here's  the details:

Papers:  Lime card stock from my scrap basket, both black embossed papers are from the DCWV Black Currant stack pack.  Butterflies from the top card are cut from a laser cut sheet of glitter card stock.

Image (bottom):  Stampin' Up - Feeling Sentimental

Embellishments:  rhinestones and ribbon on top card

While simple, I think they both turned out nice.  Thanks for looking!                                                                                Marie

Spring Basket Betty Card

If you did the Simply Betty Blog Hop yesterday, than you have already seen this card...If you missed the hop you can still check it out HERE.

This is the card I made for my Spring basket buddy on Simply B Stamps Fan Page.  Betty gave all the participants this image and we were to create a card/tag to accompany our swap.  I LOVED this image.  I knew as soon as I saw it what I wanted to do....

Here's the details:

Image:  Spring Basket Betty; colored with pencils then accented with lime Stickles on the shoes and scarf, Smooch Silver on the chrome of the bicycle and Glossy Accents on the sunglasses and bicycle tire.  I "fussy cut" the entire image.  I printed and colored only the basket of a second image, accented it with Distressed Stickles in straw and "fussy cut" it out.  I adhered the second basket piece to the first image with pop dots.  I then added punched flowers accented with rhinestones to the basket.

Sentiment:  a rub on from my scrap basket

Papers:  from my scrap stash

Embellishments:  BoBunny dotted ribbon in black and clear flourish stickers

I really loved how this card came out...it was so hard to mail it away :)  Thanks for looking!
