Card Swap

Just a quick share today...

This is the card I made for the last PCD swap.  The theme was "Birds of a Feather".  I know, there is no bird...when I hear that phrase I think of girlfriends, so...I made a girlfriend card - pink & black, sparkly, feminine.  I do have feathers ;)

Thanks for looking!

Pin or Pass: Soda Cake

Soda Cakes, have you heard of them?  Of course I have made chocolate Coke cake, so this idea intrigued me.  There are several different pins for the soda cakes, but I especially liked this one because she addressed the one issue I noticed...gooey cake.  If you make it with just the soda and cake mix you get a gooey cake... delicious, but not quite the way I like it.  On this blog she adds one egg white and it makes all the difference!  Yummy!  Also, originally you are to use the cool whip for the frosting...she makes a butter cream.  I like the cool whip frosting, so I stayed with that.  She even has a list of cake mix-soda flavors to try.  I am thinking the cherry Coke with chocolate might be tasty ;)

So, Pin or Pass?  Pin!

Let me know what flavor combos you try!

Pick 3 for the Week of 3/18/13

1)  Handmade Doilies - since doilies are "the thing" right now, this caught my eye.  Don't be alarmed, the site is not in English, just use your translate button if needed, but the pictures really do give you all the information you will need to create your own doilies.

2)  Glitter storage - I love this!  Not only would I be able to see just what glitters I have, but it looks interesting and sparkly.  I will have to get to a thrift store and see what shakers I can find.

3)  Ombre Cards - I really like the simplicity of the cards.  While she used color chips from her boutique, I am thinking paint chips!

Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a wonderful week.  I will be getting ready for Spring Break...my son has a friend coming to visit and they want to go into DC for some sight seeing.

Enjoy!

Birds of a Feather Tags

I wanted to share my latest swap item...tags.  I loved making these.  Our theme was "Birds of a Feather".  To get my inspiration I just goggled "vintage bird images".  Once I found these beautiful images, I just started creating.  I cut the tags with my Coluzzle (old school...I know, but I like it for thicker papers) from some old folders I had.  I liked them because they were not manila, but rather a brown.  I also punched the little tag from the same folder.  I then stamped feathers all over the tag, inked its edges and sanded the entire thing to distress it.  I went through my scraps to find some pieces of vintage looking papers to layer with.  I hand wrote the sentiments and stitching on the small tags.  Then I just started layering and adding flowers, ribbon and a brad to get it the way I wanted it.  I really like how they came out.

Thanks for looking!

Pick 3 for the week of 3/11/13

Spring is in the air, and my crafting mojo is finally returning....so this week I am sharing a few crafty things I want to try.

1)  Custom Brads - this just looks to easy and I have bunch of fun emboss powders.  I can't wait to try this one out.

2)  Cabbage Roses - these are so pretty, and so easy...and I love flowers on my cards.  Once you see how easy this is, you are only limited by the size of your circles and your papers.

3)Quad Easel Card - FUN!  This is such a fun card...who can I make on for???

Wanted to share this lovely card I received in the mail about a week ago...Corinne, a friend from Ohio, sent this to me.  It was a wonderful pick me up on a day that I was feeling quite frustrated.  You can see more of her beautiful projects on her blog:  Wish Upon A Scrap.

Hope you have a WONDERFUL day!

Pin or Pass: Crock Pot Chicken?

Found myself with a whole chicken and looking for something easy to do with it.  Decided to give this pin a try.  It was delicious!  By dinner time the chicken was just falling off the bone and incredibly juicy.  My chicken was large enough that I had enough meat for two meals, so second night I turned it into chicken barbecue   Both meals were delicious and the bonus, chicken stock.  I did add a few diced carrots and stalks of celery to the onions to give a little more flavor.  Will definitely keep this one in my "go to" meals.  So, Pin or Pass?  Pin!

Just had to share...

Since my accident I have received many well wishes, cards and treats in the mail.  I wanted to share a few of them here...

This card is from Irene...isn't it lovely?  She used a Simply Betty Stamp.  I really like the pink and green...one of my favorite color combos.  You can check out more of Irene's cards on her blog.

This one is from one of my BFF's, Brandi... BEAUTIFUL!  The flowers, the swirls, the die cut....it is just a beautiful card.  It will be going on my craft room wall.

This sparkly one is from Lisa, a fellow Diva.  It was included with the Couch Survival Kit that I shared with your earlier.  GLITTERY!  Does she know me or what???  She got a Cricut for Christmas and has been playing it a lot...this is one of her Cricut Creations.  Love it!

This cute one is from another Diva, Elizabeth.  You can't see it in the picture, but she added some texture (crackle paint???) to the birdhouses.  So cute...love it!

Finally, some of the other cards I received.  I truly appreciate all my well wishes, cards, flowers and even a few home cooked meals.  And I am glad to report that I am finally walking again...with crutches, and rather slowly, but walking.  the rest will come with time.
