R.I.P. Youth Card

A very dear friend of my husband's will be celebrating his 70th birthday this year.  I wanted to make something fun for him.  After digging through all my Cricut cartridges I knew I had to do this vulture from Life's a Party.  Isn't he cute?  All the cuts (card base, tombstone, coffin & vulture) are from the Life's a Party cartridge.  I used lots of scraps, a silver pen to write "youth" on the coffin & to add some accents, a wiggle eye for fun, black Cat's Eye chalk ink to tone it all down.  I think he will like it!

VooDoo Corinne Card

Finally completed my card for the latest challenge for the Simply Betty Fan Page Challenge.  You had two images to choose from and, since I know Corinne personally, I felt I just had to choose her.  For her image you had to include stick pins in your project...easy since it was a voodoo image.

For You Card

Just a quick share...I haven't done too much crafting this week as I had a major OOOPS with my computer...my ENTIRE digital stamps file disappeared!  For those that use digis you can imagine my horror!  Fortunately, after running a recovery program I was able to find most of my images. Somehow my file was moved to the recycle bin, and I emptied my bin without realizing it was there.  This is why I usually have a password on my computer...and it is back on now ;)  Anyhow, this is the only card I have done all week.  I just love "hedgies" and this one is so cute.  Unfortunately, I do not know where the image is from (please let me know if you know).  I am thinking he might have actually been a clip art or coloring page.

Here's the details:

Image:  ??? help me out if you know.  Colored with pencils.
Sentiment:  Stampin' Up
Papers:  Bo Bunny scraps from my scrap basket
Extras:  ribbon, wood buttons, yellow rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you have a wonderfully crafty weekend :)

Vintage Card

Quick card I put together for a swap.  The theme was vintage/retro.  I just received the dress maker thinlet by Stampin'Up, so..

Here is what I came up with....

Black patterned paper from my scrap basket, layered with a black doily.  Cut the banner and dress form from craft card stock, stamped the sentiment.  Finally, added a bit of ribbon and lace, and a Prima flower.

Not bad for a "throw together", huh?

Thanks for look.

Busy Times!

Things have been crazy busy the past month...some good, some not so good.

On the good side, John celebrated his 50th birthday.  We kept it low key due to some of the 'not so good" things going on.  Nice dinner, presents and desserts.

Soon after, Teri and her girls came for a visit. They wanted to see DC, unfortunately they came right after the shut down, so...we did manage to do some fun things and get them to see a few things in DC.  I took the girls shopping...6 hours in a mall with 2 teenagers :P  Then John took them into DC to the Crime Museum (open as it is privately funded) and to get a few pics by some of the monuments.  They also went to Arlington Cemetery and rode the metro.  We had a nice, but busy visit.  Next one needs to be a little more relaxed.

I have managed to get a few cards done and am now working on some layouts.  I will share them over the next few days.  Hope you are having a wonderful fall!

Happy Crafting!

Bat Girl Ali Card

This was a just for fun card I made for my girlfriends oldest daughter.  She loves batman, so...I knew I had to make this one for her.  I kept it simple...

Here's the details:

Image:  Bat Girl Ali from Simply B Stamps; colored with pencils & gamsol, added Stickles to belt and emblem

Sentiment:  came with image

Papers:  from my scrap basket

Extras:  wobbler, small swirl & star punches, yellow & blue Stickles

I like how the wobbler makes her "run" when you wiggle the card.

Thanks for looking!  Enjoy your day!

Stitched with Love

Finally getting to use that wonderful embroidery machine my DH gave me for Christmas.  His one request for his birthday, " personalized golf towels".  So...that sounds easy, right?  Ha!  Well, the first one was a breeze.  Simple monogram, no color changes.  Then I began the red one...9 color changes, add initials to original design...still should be pretty easy.  Well, 4 hours later it is done.  Yes, I said 4 hours.  It was one of those, anything that can go wrong will go wrong!  Broken needle, knotted thread, thread stuck in needle housing, bobbin out of thread, towel stuck in bobbin housing...you name, it happened.  It did turn out great though ;)  I look at it this way, I am now prepared for anything...it was a great learning experience.

Oh...he loved them...made it all worth it.

Enjoy your day!
