A Card From A Friend

I wanted to share a very special card I received from a friend.  Two things make it extra special...

First, the image is actually a head shot I received as a reward from Simply Betty Stamps.  She created the head shot with a picture of me and a little info.

Second, my friend, Corinne, colored her and created this lovely card for me.  She does beautiful work, check out her blog.

This card is just too special to give away, so I am going to frame it and hang in my new crafting room.

Pick 3 for the Week of 7/30/12

Even though  have been crazy with preparing for our move, I managed to find my pick three for the week...check'em out!

1)  Olympic Cocktail - In honor of the Summer games...and well it just looks fun to drink :)

2)  Glazed Glitter  - for a girl who loves glitter this looks very interesting.  Unfortunately, I will not be able to try it out until we get set up in our new home :(

3)  Cuttlebug Organization - I love this idea, because let's face it...the names are just not enough.  Check out the site because they have a lot of other great tips.

So, movers are beginning the packing out process today and we should be headed to our next destination by Saturday.  We will be staying in temporary quarters 30 - 60 days!  Trying to see the positive...very little housework to do (we are staying in a hotel suite), can do some digi coloring (I have printed out a bunch!), and can rest up for the move in and all the unpacking!

Enjoy your Monday!  And let me know if you try any of these picks:)

Happy Day Card

A cute card I put together.  I really wanted to use the striped papers...love the colors, so I colored my digi image, Swimming Dolly, to match.

Here are the Details:

Image:  Swimming Dolly from Pixie Dust Studio; After coloring I added Crystal Effects to her eyes and inner tube.  After cutting her out I pop dotted her onto the front of the card.

Sentiment:  random stamp from a dollar bin somewhere :)

Papers:  from my scrap basket

Extras:  used a border punch on the green strip, made a corner using a square & a circle punch, Prima flower, rhinestone brad, glitter button, ribbon and fibers.

ATC: Sweet Summer Time

This was a fun one for me.  I had so many ideas, but I knew I had to go with watermelon, ants and a red gingham cloth...that is just summer to me.  I found the ants stickers and a sheet of paper with the watermelon on it...then it all fell into place.  i use ribbon to create the table cloth.  I pop dotted the edge of the "table" to git it dimension and look like a real table cloth.  For the watermelon I cut out two images and pop dotted them together.  I then  covered the top image with Rock Candy Stickles.  I adhered the 'table' to the base card (covered with foliage printed paper) with hot glue and the pop dots.  I added the melon, a couple of ants (looking for sweet treat) and a daisy.  Fun!

Pick 3 for the week of 7/23/12

The countdown has begun...the movers will be here in 7days!  Oh, let the turmoil begin!  They think it will take them three days to pack and one to load, so we figure we will be out of here on August 4th.  One to our next adventure!  With that said, please bear with me the next month or o as we will be in temporary quarters (hotel) until we close on our new house.  I won't be able to do crafting, cooking...guess I will catch up on my reading and coloring.  I have printed out a BUNCH of digis to color.

Moving on, here are my picks for the week:

1)  Candi by Craftworks - "like brads, but without legs".  I am loving these and they come in so many colors!  No holes to punch, just add a pop dot or a little glue...done!

2)  Cheesecake filled Chocolate Covered Strawberries - I think that covers it!  Yummy!  Will definitely have to try these for my next get together.

3)Bo Bunny: Serenade - love this paper.  The poppies and the pot of green, beautiful. Can't wait to get a hold of it!

Hope you all have a wonderful week.  Remember, I love your comments !

Island Pixie Take 2

I just love this Island Pixie from Pixie Dust Studios.  I have used her before in a much different color palette.  This time I decided to go 'sunny'...and I kept the layout simple so she would really be the star of the card.

Here's the details:

Image:  Island Pixie from Pixie Dust Studio; colored with pencils.  I added gold Stickles to the stars and orange Stickles to the wings.

Sentiment:  I printed on my computer; I added gold Stickles to the edges and matted.
Embellishments:  Prima roses, Stampin' Up ribbon, black flourish stickers, silver Stickles (on the flourishes).

Thanks for looking!

Pick 3 for the week of 7/16/12

Wow!  Another crazy weekend!  John went to DC to look at more homes...ended up driving back through one of the neighborhoods we were really impressed with and spoke to one of the homeowners of one of our picks.  After a lengthy conversation, he was more convinced that it was the right neighborhood for us, so...we put in an offer and they accepted!  Woo Hoo!  One thing we can check off the list of things to do for the move.  We are now focusing on getting this house to appraise for the highest it possibly can so we will get a good buy out offer.

With that being said, I did not do ANY crafting this weekend, however, I did spend a lot of time on Pinterest and found some fun things to share with you...

1)  Cascading Card - this card is lovely and doesn't look too difficult to make...definitely going to give this one a go for some one's special day.

2)  Glow in the Dark Cotton Candy - well, this just looks fun :)  and easy...spin your cotton candy onto a glow stick.  This would be great for the drive in, evening BBQ, or movie party.  We just happen to have a cotton candy machine :)

3)  Place We've Lived Memory Boards - love this! Such a cute project to help hold those memories and she used her Cricut to make them!

I hope your week is off to a great start!  Remember, I love comments!

Happy 4th of July and an Update

So, I have been offline for several days....Last Friday a nasty storm came through and knocked out our power.  We did not get power back until yesterday...3 + days without power.  So, no blogging, no TV, no A/C...but it was OK, we made do.  DH & DS played golf every day, while I stayed home (to watch after my fur babies who did not like the heat) and read, colored and just relaxed.
I read 4 books, some had been in "to read" drawer fro over a year!  I also colored almost all the digis I had printed!  Here are just a few;
Now to make cards with them :)

So, needless to say I did not get my Pick 3 done for the week, and since the  week is almost over I am just not going to bother.  Instead I want to share my latest ATC.

This is for a swap, the theme is "Star Spangled Banner".  I had a lot of ideas, but my DS actually helped me with this one.  While in the store looking for things to inspire me, he helped me pick up the flag stickers and star rhinestones.  When i got home I found a scrap of paper that was just perfect...fireworks!  So, this one went together really quick.  I pop dotted the flag onto the background.  I then added the star rhinestones.  I accented the stars with Stickles and added a silver Stickle frame on the card.  Simple, but to me it really catches the theme.

I hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday!
